In 2004, two 20-year-olds met each other through a mutual friend/roommate at college. One was into Marilyn Manson and the other was into some better music. Their deviant tastes intersected at Snow Patrol, they exchanged CD collections and the rest is history.

This website was officially born out of boredom/need for self-amusement on 19 February 2006 with bad skin. Since then, it has grown its own fingers and touched many people along the way. Not in a creepy way though.

If possible, we'd like the Singapore government to include a separate 'Music' option for blood type in our Identification Card.

INDIEPENDENTMUSIC features daily news updates across genres of punk, rock, alternative, indie, pop, metal, and their sub-genres. We welcome all press releases that may interest our readers, and we also write album reviews and put out cute little e-zines (incredibly lo-res but high quality content) which includes interviews with new/upcoming bands, new album releases as well as coverage of major local music events using unprecedented technologically-advanced gadgets*. Feel free to check with us on matters relating to site statistics and possible placements of ads and running of contests giveaways on this website. We always do our best to accommodate your promotional needs.

1. Do you have day jobs?
A: Yes. What else pays for music trips

2. Where are you based?
A: Singapore. We welcome free tickets to music festivals around the world.

3. Do you read all your emails?
A: Yes, we read all of them multiple times every day.

4. Then how come you never reply my emails about my band?
A: Send us a reminder email please? Sometimes they end up in the junk folder. Alternatively, you can reach us via myspace. If you rock and rule, we'll definitely hit you back.

5. How can I get a feature for my band on your website?
A: Provide an updated band website, links, bio sheet, demos/EP/whatever recordings you have. You can send it to us via yousendit/divshare, etc. We also accept physical copies for review. Better yet, have something in mind so we can discuss in detail. We don't do air bands.

6. I'm a music promoter/company and I want to feature my artists/music on your website.
A: Sure! Send over your links/photos/banners/band bios etc if they're up our alley we'll feature them fo' sho.

7. I am a photographer and would like to contribute my concert photos for your website.
A: Drop us an email with your portfolio and maybe a list of concerts you'd like to attend. Please note that passes are subject to availability from the organizers.

8. I am an aspiring music writer and I'd like to contribute some of my album reviews, interviews, articles, etc.
A: You probably write better than us, so email your favourite album reviews and we'll post them up.

9. Why don't I ever win anything from your giveaways?
A: Everyone has a fair shot. (But sometimes you gotta go the extra mile, um, like signing up to our mailing list or post our banners or something)
